Today, we counted 17 magnitude 5.0 – 6.0 earthquakes(yellow square) along the Australian plate, and large swarm of lower magnitude earthquakes which struck along new Zealand(white square). The disturbing news is that all of these earthquakes took place today.
It is difficult to see all 17 of the earthquakes because at first glance it just looks like there are only a few earthquakes to report, but in reality there are more.
This of course has been the story for the past decade or so, as the numbers have been deeply covered up, and downgraded to not start panic in the general public. As they say in the 2012 movie, when they tell you not to panic, that is when you panic. (RSOE link)
The earthquake in Nepal was a strong earthquake, and many reported shaking with tables on the move.
Additional 5.0, 5.1 earthquakes struck in Panama and Oaxaca, with no reports of damages to buildings or loss of life.
Moving over to the New Madrid Seismic zone, there were 4 earthquakes to report according to the USGS archive, and that is for the past two days.
