The Etna volcano in Sicily Italy showing weak lava effusion on the lower north East flank. Explosive activity seems to have
stopped at the moment, and dropped to lower levels. However, the Catania airport was shut down on December the 17th, 2013 due to some of the recent activity from the volcano.
The Shiveluch volcano in Kamachatka is showing ash plumes rising to 27,000 feet in altitude, and recorded by VAAC Tokyo in the last 24 hours.
A significant eruption could have taken place at the Dukono volcano in Halmahera, with an ash plume rising 45,000 feet in altitude and extending more than 100 kilometers to the North west was reported by VAAC Darwin.
The Nevado Del Huila volcano located in Columbia is not showing any significant changes.
Machin volcano in Columbia is showing slightly elevated levels at the time.
The Galeras volcano in Columbia has shown ash emissions such as yesterday with a plume rising up to 1 kilometers above the crater.
The Nevado Del Ruiz volcano in Columbia is showing activity at the surface with degassing.
Cumbal volcano also in Columbia shows slightly elevated seismic activity, and small earthquakes at a shallow depth located under the La Plazuela crater.
Sotara volcano in Columbia is showing low activity.
There is currently a red alert that has been issued for the Mount Sinabung volcano located in Indonesia. Eruptions with high reaching ash clouds can occur at any given time.

Shocking article on the current drought conditions taking place in the San Joaquin Valley. Water agencies along with federal lawmakers are applying pressure on the local governor to declare a drought emergency as a dry winter conditions are a plague in the area. The National Weather Service center has declared a 1 in 3 chance that Bakersfield will experience a winter with below normal rainfall.
“We’re looking for the governor to declare a drought emergency, because we believe that will ultimately provide additional flexibility with how we can solve our (water) crisis.
Specifically, we need some relaxation of the Delta standards,” said Jim Beck, general manager of the Kern County Water Agency, site of the press conference. –http://www.bakersfieldcalifornian.com
The drought in Texas has improved somewhat due to the ice storm in the area, even though there has been extra moisture watersheds that feed the Austin and San Antonio areas are still low. – source
In San Francisco the driest year on record is being reported, to put into perspective how bad the drought conditions are, in 1946 there were 8.79 inches of rain, and this year not even half that amount as 3.38 inches of rain has fallen in 2013. –source
Extreme Weather Conditions
In Australia’s south-east area, sweltering hot winds are moving further east across the country, and the peak heat temperatures spreading from Adelaide to Canberra. There is currently extreme heat warnings being issued for South Australia today, while Egypt was experiencing snow, so much for global warming. – Source
In Indonesia the 7 of 10 plate movements near completion as the city of Sampang/Solo has experienced overflowing soak in the local area, with 143 villages soaked as well as 15 districts.

The 7 of 10 on the Sunda Plate appears to be completing its process. It appeared from MODIS satellite shots that the degree of sinking predicted by the Zetas had already occurred, but with Viet Nam and now this in Java, it is clear that a bit more to go was to occur.
